Wolf Pack Season 2 Renewal Addressed By Sarah Michelle Gellar

Horror TV legend Sarah Michelle Gellar weighs in on the possibility of her new Paramount Plus series Wolf Pack getting a season 2 renewal.

Wolf Pack season 2 has not yet been officially confirmed, but star Sarah Michelle Gellar has shared a hopeful update on its progress. The supernatural mystery series, which comes from Teen Wolf creator Jeff Davis, premiered season 1 on Paramount+ this January. It follows two teenagers whose lives are changed forever when a fierce wildfire accidentally unleashes a werewolf. Gellar plays Kristin Ramsey, an arson investigator who gets drawn into their adventures, starring opposite an ensemble cast that includes Armani Jackson, Bella Shepard, Chloe Rose Robertson, Tyler Lawrence Gray, and Rodrigo Santoro.

Today, TVLine released an interview with Gellar discussing today’s finale of Wolf Pack season 1. When asked if season 2 was on the horizon, she revealed that it hasn’t been officially confirmed yet. However, she revealed that “everybody wants Season 2” and that a writers’ room is open for the season, and she suspects the decision to renew is being delayed because of the potential upcoming writers’ strike in Hollywood. How Did Wolf Pack Season 1 Compare to Teen Wolf?
One thing that will either harm or hurt Wolf Pack is its loose connection to the Teen Wolf universe. It shares certain creatives with the popular MTV series and premiered on the same day as the feature length series follow-up Teen Wolf: The Movie in January, so it set itself up to potentially disappoint any confused audience members expecting a more direct tie-in. However, those connections likely also put the series on the radar of Teen Wolf devotees who might not have cared to check it out otherwise.

This element that could make or break Wolf Pack season 2, along with the writers’ strike. To that end, producers who are on the fence may look at how the show performed against that prior long-running series. Per Gellar’s quote, the numbers are looking good, but the reaction from critics and audiences could be equally important.

Unfortunately, critics didn’t respond to the first season of Wolf Pack, giving it a Rotten 42 percent on Rotten Tomatoes compared to Teen Wolf’s glowing 81 percent. However, fans seem to be reacting well to both series, giving the new show 84 percent compared to Teen Wolf’s 85. Ultimately, it seems likely that Paramount+ will roll the dice on season 2, though it may be significantly delayed by those behind-the-scenes factors.
