A new Loki Season 2 TV spot just dropped that spotlights the Disney+ show’s eponymous protagonist locked in a furious rematch with the TVA.
The spot comes via Disney+ and is an updated, landscape ratio version of the streaming platform’s previously released “Coming in 2023” promo. It features several clips from Loki’s upcoming second season, including shots of Loki (Tom Hiddleston) unleashing a magical attack on agents of the TVA. The God of Mischief is wearing a 1970s tuxedo complete with a frilly shirt during the clash, reflecting Loki Season 2’s time-hopping narrative.
Little else is known about Loki Season 2’s plot at this stage, although key supporting characters Mobius M. Mobius (Owen Wilson), Sylvie (Sophia Di Martino) and Ravonna Renslayer (Gugu Mbatha-Raw) are all confirmed to return. Executive producer Stephen Broussard also shed light on Loki’s character arc in the Disney+ show’s next batch of episodes, indicating that the one-time supervillain will edge closer to full-fledged hero status. “[Loki] was always a little bit of this outsider in Asgard in the royal palace there and I think Season 1 was about discovering that he could be more,” Broussard said. “And I think Season 2 will continue that in unexpected ways.”
Kang Returns in Loki Season 2
Jonathan Majors’ Kang the Conqueror will likely be responsible for at least some of the surprises alluded to by Broussard, considering at least one incarnation of the time-traveling baddie is locked in for Loki Season 2. Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania’s post-credits scene set the stage for Loki/Kang showdown, foreshadowing a confrontation between the God of Mischief and Kang variant Victor Timely. Online buzz claims that Majors will portray several other Kang variants in Loki’s second season, however, this remains unconfirmed.
The exact number of Kangs Loki will have to contend with isn’t the only subject of speculation surrounding Loki Season 2, either. Notably, the series still lacks a release window, although Marvel Studios and Disney+ maintain that it will debut at some point in 2023. A recent report suggests that Loki Season 2’s premiere episode will air late in the summer, after another MCU series, Secret Invasion, has finished its run. That said, neither Marvel Studios nor Disney+ have publicly commented on the report, which means it should be taken with a grain of salt for now.
