Prayer & Relationship With God Sustains Chrissy Metz
In an interview with The Christian Post, Chrissy Metz shared how prayer and her relationship with God strengthened her through difficult times growing up. Apparently, she learned to pray and talk to God as a child when her grandmother took her to church.“I had a pretty interesting relationship with my stepfather that was very difficult,” she recalled. “And I would pray all the time about that and to understand him. But also go, ‘Why do I have to be in this situation?’”The young Chrissy had questions, and prayers immensely helped her sustain in life. Furthermore, she revealed that her conversations with God guided her as an actress. She starred on the hit NBC show “This is Us,” which ended last May 2022, and in the Christian movie “Breakthrough” in 2019.
There was no way in the world that I was going to be able to navigate Los Angeles without a foundation,” she said. “Without prayer, and without God, my Higher Power helping me in navigating it because it is really scary and it is uncertain.” The actress added, “I would constantly say, ‘Please, God help me; you know better than I do. Thy will and not mine be done. Just give me the best next right action; what do I need to do for You and not for me?’” The 42-year-old further shared that she wanted to appear on “the most successful television show.” But now her desire had changed. She wanted “to be on a show that touches people’s hearts and minds.”
