Sarah Michelle Gellar was reminiscing about her co-star Kelly Ripa on Monday’s episode of Live with Kelly and Ryan.

The 45-year-old Gellar and 52-year-old Ripa were once co-stars on the soap opera All My Children, but when Gellar decided to quit to move to California, Ripa tried to dissuade her. Gellar was promoting her new TV series Wolf Pack, debuting on Paramount Plus January 26 – reuniting with Buffy the Vampire Slayer star James Marsters at the Wolf Pack premiere, when she opened up about the move in the mid-90s. Co-stars: The 45-year-old Gellar and 52-year-old Ripa were once co-stars on the soap opera All My Children, but when Gellar decided to quit to move to California, Ripa tried to dissuade he ‘When she was on All My Children and leaving, she said, “I’m going out to California,”‘ Ripa began. And I said, ‘What? There’s nothing in California. What are you talking about? You don’t want to go out to California as a young starlet. What do you think? You think you’re going to become a star? You’re going to stay here where the work is! Theater! Television!”‘ Ripa added.

She was like, “You’re wrong,”‘ Ripa said, adding she was, ‘so glad she didn’t listen. She did it! She was like, “Hold my beer, I’m going to go be a star. California: ‘When she was on All My Children and leaving, she said, “I’m going out to California,”‘ Ripa began Gellar started acting at just 4 years of age in a Burger King commercial, with roles in films like Over the Brooklyn Bridge and Funny Farm.

She landed the role of Erica Kane (Susan Lucci) on All My Children in 1993, winning a Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Younger Actress in a Drama Series in 1995 before leaving for Los Angeles later that year. She ultimately auditioned for a different role in Joss Whedon’s pilot for Buffy the Vampire Slayer before she ultimately landed the title role and became a household name practically overnight. Gellar plays arson investigator Kristin Ramsey on Wolf Pack, and is also an executive producer on the show. Based on the same-name book series by Edo Van Belkom, a group of teenagers on a school bus witness the wildfire as well as a menacing monster that gets awakened in the disaster. Soon after, they start experiencing supernatural events after getting wounded in the chaos and take it upon themselves to investigate why they are all mysteriously drawn to each other.
