Game of Thrones star Maisie Williams’ new show Pistol unveils latest trailer

“We’re creating a revolution. A new trailer for Danny Boyle’s FX miniseries Pistol has been unveiled. Based on the book Lonely Boy: Tales from a Sex Pistol written by the band’s guitarist Steve Jones, Pistol will see Game of Thrones’ Maisie Williams take on the role of “punk icon” Jordan (aka Pamela Rooke). Consisting of six episodes, the show will cover the Sex Pistols’ rise to fame (or infamy) in the 1970s alongside the birth of the wider punk scene in London.

Joining Williams on the show are 1917’s Anson Boon as frontman Johnny Rotten, The Society’s Toby Wallace as guitarist Steve Jones, Jacob Slater as drummer Paul Cook, Enola Holmes’s Louis Partridge as bassist Sid Vicious, The Witcher’s Emma Appleton as Nancy Spungen and Thomas Brodie-Sangster as Malcolm McLaren. The trailer shows the grey and dismal life in ’70s England and contrasting it with the chaotic storm created by the Sex Pistols, with Brodie-Sangster’s Malcolm McLaren telling the camera: “My vision for the Sex Pistols is one of danger and desire… whether you can play is not the criteria, it’s whether you’ve got something to say.”

The show is directed by Danny Boyle and written by Craig Pearce. Speaking about the series, Boyle said: “Imagine breaking into the world of The Crown and Downton Abbey with your mates and screaming your songs and your fury at all they represent. This is the moment that British society and culture changed forever. It is the detonation point for British street culture, where ordinary young people had the stage and vented their fury and their fashion and everyone had to watch and listen and everyone feared them or followed them.”
