Netflix has confirmed the release date for Heart of Stone, a new spy thriller starring Wonder Woman’s Gal Gadot and The Tourist’s Jamie Dornan. As part of its jam-packed 2023 film slate announcement video (which you can see below), the streaming giant has revealed that Heart of Stone will be released on August 11. The movie, which is written by The Old Guard’s Greg Rucka and Allison Schroeder, stars Gadot as intelligence agent Rachel Stone, the only woman who stands between her powerful organisation and the loss of its most valuable – and dangerous – asset.
Dornan appears in the role of Parker, while other cast members include Alia Bhatt, Sophie Okonedo, Army of the Dead’s Matthias Schweighöfer, Jing Lusi and Paul Ready. In a behind-the-scenes featurette released for the film last year, Gadot teased: “Heart of Stone is going to be extremely epic. It’s a super grounded, raw, action-thriller. We really wanted to make sure we keep it realistic so people can feel the pain. Rachel Stone lives off the adrenaline, she’s addicted to it. There’s so much going on and it’s so big-scale,” added Dornan.
In other Gadot news, last month, it was reported that Patty Jenkins’ plans for a third Wonder Woman film were rejected. The news was followed by rumours that Gadot had apparantly been fired from the role of Diana Prince, though DC’s new co-CEO James Gunn set the record straight in response to a fan who said the decision to “boot” the actress “doesn’t inspire confidence”. I’m not sure where you’re getting that we ‘booted’ Gal,” he hit back.
