Stephen Amell is fully open to returning to the Arrowverse

Arrow ended a couple of years ago with the death of Oliver Queen, played for eight seasons by actor Stephen Amell. But the Arrowverse that the show started is alive and well, with The Flash, Stargirl and more entertaining people to this day. It’s an impressive legacy, and one that Amell admits to missing. “I owe so much to the people of DC, The CW, and Warner Bros. Television. I love the character so much and only love it more now that it’s coming up on two years since we wrapped the show,” the actor told Den of Geek. “But having a little space now, I saw that I miss it. I do look back very, very, very fondly on it.”

But does that mean that Amell would be open to returning to the role of Oliver Queen someday? “Oh, sure,” he said simply. Listen, I’m the namesake. So if I can ever be of any any help, if I can be of service to the Arrowverse in any way, shape or form, or better still take it to a new place, which I think would be the more interesting route to go, be that in a limited capacity or on a different platform, maybe one where we could show blood, that’d be really cool.

Death is no obstacle to bringing Stephen Amell back into the Arrowverse
The slight hitch in this plan is that, as mentioned, Arrow ended with Amell’s character dead, a decision he sounds happy with. “What means a great deal to me is we did get to control the ending,” the actor said. “That happens so rarely. To have that conversation with Greg Berlanti during the sixth season, and to decide that seven and then a truncated version of the eighth season would wrap up the story, it’s just such a blessing, because we got to do it the right way. We got to say goodbye to people in the right way. In my opinion, the way it should end for any superhero without superpowers is in the ground.”

Then again, this is a superhero story we’re talking about, and in superhero stories, death might as well be a mosquito bite; there are a million and one ways to bring him back. If Amell and The CW get an idea for how to include him, death would be no obstacle. This November will mark the 10-year anniversary of Arrow. You can currently see Amell in the wrestling drama Heels on Starz.
