Actor Marc Blucas (“Buffy the Vampire Slayer” fame) chatted about his new film, which will premiere on Sunday, November 27th on Great American Family (as part of Thanksgiving weekend). In “A Christmas… Present,” real estate agent Maggie Larson and her family will be spending Christmas with her recently widowed brother, Paul, and his young daughter at their house. “It was an amazing experience for me,” he admitted. “I had a great time in this movie mainly because of Candace, she was so impressive. It was a movie and a story that she had developed. She really wanted what is best for the project.”Maggie is determined to give her brother and niece the best Christmas possible and to lift their spirits when they most need it. Though Maggie’s plan is to aid her brother, his faith and parenting style ultimately helps her to understand issues within her own life and a need for closeness in her own family.
“The director, Lesley Demetriades, was wonderful and she was open to ideas for making this story rich and deep,” he said. “We wanted it to have a real conflict, and we wanted to make sure that it was genuine.” The love story is about a married couple, who has been doing it for 20 years and they are in a rut that they can’t get out of. That was a welcome change and a great idea by Candace as well,” he said. “My hat is off to Candace and the production team because they made it about the things that were important about telling that story. We shot it in Tulsa, which was a new experience for me,” he added. “With any movie, story, or TV show that I am in, I want there to be an authenticity to it and a relatability to it,” he said. On December 9, 10, and 11, Blucas will be a part of ChristmasCon in New Jersey. “This will be my first one. I am excited about it. I never did the Con thing in my entire career,” he said. “I love asking the audience why my movies or shows matter so much, and then they share their moving stories with you and why your work matters to them. It will be fun to engage with people,” he added.
