Anne Hathaway’s next project is inspired by the book Seesaw Monster by Japanese author Kōtarō Isaka and will bring her together on screen with the talent of Salma Hayek.
The rights to the film adaptation belong to Netflix but despite this confirmation the general details are still quite scarce. Seesaw Monster is officially in development and will bring together two great actresses from the international scene Anne Hathaway and Salma Hayek as rivals in the history of the Japanese author.
Known for being a mysteryfiction author Isaka is the author of the book that gave rise to the recent Bullet Train and is therefore no stranger to cinematographic adaptations of his works. About the adaptation of Seesaw Monster Netflix has not yet released details other than that Anne Hathaway and Salma Hayek will in fact be the central characters.
The story follows a woman who questions her motherinlaw’s mysterious past uncovering secrets that could shake her family. The two women who are habitually bickering are also forced to work together when their mysterious past puts their lives at risk. Overall the project is described as an action comedy. The film does not yet have a director with the screenplay being adapted by Olivia Milch Ocean’s 8. Anne Hathaway and Salma Hayek will also produce alongside Akiva Goldsman Gregory Lessans Ryosuke Saegusa and Yuma Terada.
