Was Sons Of Anarchy’s Truck Driver Secretly Involved In 2 Huge Deaths?

Over the course of seven seasons, Sons of Anarchy saw many deaths, but the two biggest ones happened in the final two episodes, and one minor character might have been involved not just in one of those but in both: Milo, the truck driver. Created by Kurt Sutter, the action crime drama TV series Sons of Anarchy premiered on FX in 2008 and was very well received by critics and viewers from the beginning, with most praise going towards the performances of the main cast (particularly Katey Sagal as Gemma Teller-Morrow) and the themes addressed in the show, such as racism, brotherhood, and corruption.

Set in the fictional town of Charming, California, Sons of Anarchy is led by Jackson “Jax” Teller, the title club’s VP and the son of John ‘JT’ Teller, one of the club’s founding members. The series kicks off when Jax finds JT’s manifesto, in which he shared his ideas and views for the club, which were completely different from those of the club’s current President (and Jax’s stepfather), Clay Morrow. This, along with other problems within the club and with other groups, sends Jax on a journey that makes him question his relationships, family, and role in the club. Sons of Anarchy not only focused on the drama within the club but also within the Teller-Morrow family, as Jax’s mother, Gemma, and Clay kept a dark secret about JT’s death.

The reveal of Clay and Gemma’s involvement in JT’s death unleashed a series of violent events that ultimately led to the deaths of Clay, Gemma, and Jax, though only Clay’s was directly related to his role in JT’s supposedly accidental death. Gemma and Jax met their fates in the final two episodes of Sons of Anarchy, and there was a common denominator in their deaths: Milo (Michael Chiklis), a truck driver Gemma met hours before her death and the one who crashed against Jax in the series finale.

How Milo Could Have Been Involved In Gemma & Jax’s SOA Deaths

Milo only appeared briefly in the final two episodes of Sons of Anarchy, but the show focused a bit too much on him that it raised some questions among viewers. Given his minor but important role in Sons of Anarchy, there’s no information on Milo’s backstory, but he met Gemma while she was in Oregon. Milo mentioned he was divorced and had four children, and made small talk with Gemma as they shared a table, and after a very awkward moment between them, Milo agreed to give Gemma a ride to her father’s nursing home. To the surprise of the audience, Milo was seen again in Sons of Anarchy’s final scene, where Jax was riding his bike through the highway while being chased by the police after killing August Marks. Milo was driving his truck, and when Jax saw him, he deliberately drove into his path and let go, mirroring his father’s death. Milo ended up delivering the final line of Sons of Anarchy, exclaiming “Jesus!” as Jax crashed against his truck.

Now, although Jax was the one who killed Gemma, Milo was indirectly involved in her death as he gave her a ride to her father’s nursing home, after which she went to her father’s home, where Jax killed her and Unser – and him being directly involved in Jax’s death later on has had viewers looking for some hidden meaning or symbolism behind his small but unexpectedly important role in those final episodes. Interpretations about Milo’s indirect and direct involvement in the deaths of Gemma and Jax in Sons of Anarchy go from him being a “force of decency” and redemption for Gemma and Jax to him actually being The Shield’s Vic Mackey (Chiklis’ character in the series) living under a new identity. Of course, it’s also possible that Milo was simply a fun cameo for The Shield fans, and given Michael Chiklis’ popularity, he was given a minor but relevant role in the final episodes of Sons of Anarchy – but it’s still curious that he was involved, even if slightly, in the deaths of Gemma and Jax Teller.
