As Scott McCalls rival and nemesis at high school Colton Haynes Jackson is one of Teen Wolfs primary characters from the beginning. However as the show progresses he gets promoted to being one of the leading antagonists in the supernatural series.Towards the end of Teen Wolf season 2 as Jackson transforms into a Kanima after being bitten by Derek it seems likely that he will have a bigger role to play in season 3s overarching plot. However instead of returning as one of the main characters he surprisingly flees to London with his parents and does not come back until the finale.

One of the biggest reasons that contributed to it was the reduction in his pay after season 2. He recalls that the group representing him back then was stirring trouble and making things a living hell for Teen Wolfs production team which later reflected on his pay. Since the offered salary did not meet his expectations and demands the actor chose not to return for Teen Wolf season 3.
