As she turns 77 today the star reveals what aging and beauty mean to her. As a bonus she gives us her best skin care and her favorite makeup formulas. Our years behind us tend to govern how we deck ourselves up. While makeup is personal a certain conformity to the preset beauty norms is expected of us.
There seems to be an almost binary marker of whats age appropriate minimal is elegant but leave the edgy to the Gen Z-ers. But what if you could be both? What if like Dame Helen Mirren you can check both boxes.Dame Helen Mirren has played everyone from DCI Jane Tennison to the Queen and has won too many awards to list here. After more than 30 years in the spotlight at 76 she shows no signs of slowing down. Most recently she starred in LOreal Pariss runway show in Paris she has an ambassador for the brand. She spoke to British Vogues acting beauty and wellness editor Hannah Coates ahead of the show about confidence dancing with Vin Diesel and always laying her clothes out the night before.
Beauty for Helen Mirren goes beyond her professional and personal pursuits. It also means fond childhood memories with her family. She smiles ear to ear recalling an old and amusing anecdote of using gravy browning sauce on her legs. I wanted to make my legs look as if I had a suntan. But of course it did not work. It was a horrible idea then it is a horrible idea now Mirren laughs. She has not a proponent of browning sauce but loves at home kitchen ingredients. And one thing she includes in her routine is castor oil. I love castor oil. I use a little bit in my hair very very little. I use it on my fingernails. I use it on my skin she once revealed in an interview. Castor oils amazing. A tiny bit on your hair gives it a little shine a little separation. I use it on my eyebrows eyelashes fingernails just rub it in.
Her less is more approach also extends to her workouts. I am a big believer in the Canadian Air Force womens exercise regime which is 12 minutes. It is an exercise regime that starts from very low and easy then if you follow it through it can become quite difficult. I have never gotten past the second level but its a nice little exercise programme. Nothing extreme but you need to do it every day. Thats a great start because its all to do with taking control of yourself. I am incredibly lazy and if I can avoid doing it I will but every now and then I pull myself back and do what I know works she once said.
