Production has begun on the Warner Bros/Legendary Entertainment film Dune: Part Two. Denis Villeneuve’s sequel has added Florence Pugh, Lea Seydoux, Christopher Walken, Austin Butler and Souheila Yacoub. They join returning cast members including Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, Rebecca Ferguson, Josh Brolin, Dave Bautista, Charlotte Rampling, Stellan Skarsgård, Javier Bardem and Stephen McKinley Henderson. The screenplay is written by Villeneuve and Jon Spaihts and produced by the director, with Mary Parent, Cale Boyter, Tanya Lapointe and Patrick McCormick and executive producers include Josh Grode, Herbert W. Gains, Brian Herbert, Byron Merritt, Kim Herbert, Thomas Tull, Jon Spaihts, Richard P. Rubinstein and John Harrison.
‘Hunger Games: The Ballad Of Songbirds & Snakes’: Peter Dinklage To Co-Star In Lionsgate Prequel Dune is filming in several countries including Budapest, Abu Dhabi, Jordan and Italy. Warner Bros. pushed the sequel’s release date from October 20, 2023 to the pre-Thanksgiving slot of November 17, 2023 — the same date as Lionsgate’s prequel The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes.
In Abu Dhabi, where Arrakis scenes will be filmed, the producers are taking advantage of a recently-launched 30% cashback rebate offered via the Abu Dhabi Film Commission. The nation also hosted the filming of multiple scenes from the first feature. “Dune has again provided us with an exciting opportunity to associate the emirate with another global movie franchise,” said Mohamed Al Mubarak, Chairman of the Department of Culture and Tourism.
