T L India Congratulations on winning MasterChef, doubly, this time. How would you describe the entire experience?
Billie Mckay Well thank you first for the congratulations, it still feels enough fantastic ! Yeah, I suppose it was harder this time around. The first time around I did n’t know what to anticipate, I was just sort of thrown into it. But this time around, I knew I would be going up against once rivals as well as the new bones
, and I knew how hard those new rivals would fight for it, and also, how important experience all the once rivals had. So, I was enough spooked. I suppose I had n’t cooked a whole lot in the time – I mean, I was cooking regularly, but not in that creative MasterChef style – so I was surely a bit nervous to come in again.
But, I suppose the atmosphere was a little nicer this time around. I do n’t know why. I suppose we all clicked really snappily, perhaps because some of us had done it ahead and knew what to anticipate. So, there was a bit of fellowship amongst the rivals, which was really really lovely.
T L India You mentioned in your preface tape recording that you had lost yourself a bit over the last many times. How did you find the provocation to come back and contend with the stylish of all seasons – winners similar as Sashi Cheliah and Julie Goodwin, and other atrocious rivals similar as Sarah Todd, Tommy Pham and others?
Billie Mckay I had my son( in between the two seasons of MasterChef), and I suppose most mums would presumably agree that you sort of get buried in that invigorated baby, little child phase where you do n’t really know what you ’re doing and you lose a little bit of yourself. I clearly was n’t cooking as much as I used to, and not enjoying cuisine as much as I used to. So I suppose that fact alone made me go, “ Oh yes, I suppose I need this( sharing in MasterChef) right now. ” I noway would have allowed
I ’d do it again, because I noway allowed
the occasion would come up, originally, but secondly, because it’s quite a stressful terrain, and I did n’t suppose I would put myself through that again.
But, I had this strong feeling that I should say yes to it, and it was enough nerve- wracking. I had to take a lot of effects into consideration, but the overriding feeling was, “ Yeah, let’s just do it again and see what happens. Nothing terrible is going to be, I might get excluded first, I may make it half, who knows! ” But yeah, it was just that gut feeling that I need this, and I suppose I wan na do it.
