The end of the Arrowverse as we know it

With The Flash ending in 2023 this will mark the end of the Arrowverse as we knew and loved it.

Some major overhauls have been happening over the last couple of years in regards to The CW networks beloved Arrowverse. Arrow the show that pioneered the way for DCs superhero shows on the network was the first to end in January of 2020 after 8 seasons. When this particular universe of DC heroes was at its height we were blessed with shows such as The Flash Supergirl DC Legends of Tomorrow Batwoman Black Lightning Stargirl and Superman and Lois. While not every show within that multiverse of DC heroes is ending the original core of the Arrowverse will finally be laid to rest when The Flash finishes up its epic 13 episode final season in 2023. Yes it has been confirmed that the Scarlet Speedsters upcoming ninth season will be the shows last.

If you were anything like myself each and every week we were camped in front of out televisions waiting for these shows to air. We also longed for the multipart crossover events between all of them. If there was ever a way to know we were living in the glory days this may have been it.

However once Arrow the show that paved the way for every single one of these shows ended its run in 2020 it wasnt long until the rest followed. Black Lightning concluded the following year with a fourth season that wasnt initially expected to be its last. After that Supergirl announced that its sixth season would be the Girl of Steels final adventure as well. And then came the infamous cancellations of Batwoman and original Arrowverse show DCs Legends of Tomorrow earlier this year. It didnt take much for fans to see the writing on the wall at this point.

The Flash which arguably had the greatest first season in all of CW television history had also dipped in quality as of late. And yet when the finale airs next year it cant help but feel as though we have lost an old friend. The Arrowverse gave us all a community to come together for heroes that werent quite big enough to be on the big screen or stuck in director hell and the CW felt like home. While Stargirl and Superman and Lois will carry the torch we come together today to remember a fallen friend. Will these characters find a place on the big screen? Who knows however all we can say is thank you for the memories.
