Grey’s Anatomy veteran Caterina Scorsone has shared her excitement about the show’s new cast members with fans of the long-running medical drama. Scorsone, who plays Dr Amelia Shepherd, has praised the newcomers joining Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital as season 19’s first-year residents, as she started her preparation for the first episode of the new season. “The new cast additions are exciting and gorgeous. Inside and out. Here we go.” she wrote. Over the past few weeks, five actors were announced to join the already sizeable ensemble of Grey’s Anatomy as a brand-new quintet of young surgeons.
Neighbors’ Adelaide Kane will star as Jules Millin, the responsible daughter of a hippie family, while Inventing Anna’s Alexis Floyd is set to portray Simone Griffin, a young woman with a painful connection to Grey Sloan. Additionally, Dash & Lily’s Midori Francis will play Mika Yasuda, a middle child with eight siblings, while Glee star Harry Shum Jr and Niko Terho have been cast as competitive Daniel ‘Blue’ Kwan and determined Lucas Adams respectively.

In her tweet, Scorsone also teased that season 19 is due to start filming soon, as she confirmed she was running her lines for the premiere. “Memorizing lines for #1901. It’s here,” she wrote, adding: “The classic cast is ready and revving.” The actress has been playing the neurosurgeon in the Grey’s Anatomy universe since 2010, when she joined the series’ spin-off Private Practice. She later appeared in crossover episodes with the main show, before becoming a regular Grey’s cast member in season 11.
