The Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts spinoff films are among the most financially successful fantasy films to ever appear on the big screen. But apparently one of the stars felt as if she had entered the realm of science fiction while filming Fantastic Beasts The Secrets of Dumbledore.
In an interview with Never Was Victoria Yates revealed that her costume as Bunty Broadacres character made her feel more like a Jedi than a witch. Set in 1932 and often set in Europe Secrets of Dumbledore is packed with fancy hats and coats suited to espionage and cold preWorld War II weather. Yates who was 37 weeks pregnant by the end of filming had the role seen in a periodappropriate long coat.
But ironically her historical costume for the end of the movie made her feel like she was part of Star Wars instead of one of the Harry Potter movies. Obviously the coat is a bit covered up but on top of that they pinned it at the base so it lays with my tummy. They also shaded it with spray paint to help hide the baby bump so you can I dont see it he explained.
But yeah I was 37 weeks at the end so the outfit for the final scene in Bhutan was perfect you couldnt see anything in there Yates continued. I felt like she was in Star Wars in this outfit. One of the good Star Wars ones. Obviously a period piece detailing the upcoming Witch Wars is a far cry from the futuristic scifi Star Wars movies. Still its a fun intersection to consider though it probably never will be.
Secrets of Dumbledore is the third film in the Fantastic Beasts series and in 2016 it was announced that two more copies were on the way. However in April 2022 Warner Bros. revealed that Fantastic Beasts 4 and 5 would build on the success of the third film which despite grossing over $401 million worldwide is the lowestgrossing film ever. the Wizarding World franchise. With that in mind if sequels are made Yates will likely reprise her role as Bunty Broadacre in the future. We will keep you informed as soon as we know more.
