Alongside the trailer new footage from Netflixs adaptation of Jane Austens acclaimed English novelist Persuasion was released today. Dakota Johnson Fifty Shades of Grey stars as Anne Elliot an intelligent and attractive twentysevenyearold English woman who like many of Austins heroines remains single despite the social norms of the time.
When she was 19 years old she Anne fell in love with a young naval officer named Frederick Wentworth played by Cosmo Jarvis Lady Macbeth. However the arrogant members of Annes family considered her courtship unwise and that Wentworth was of smaller stature than Anne so they persuaded her to break off the engagement. Seven years later the Elliott family is now facing financial difficulties but as if fate were about to come Wentworth reappears in Annes life. Now Ann is faced with a choice. She must decide if she is willing to put all of her past behind her or listen to her heart and allow herself to accept the second chance her life has given her.
The movie poster shows Anne hugging a love interest. There was a conscious choice not to show the full face of the man as there is a romantic triangle at the center of the films plot and for those unfamiliar with Austens story it is not easy to determine who Anne is from just trailer and photos. He will be chosen as a husband in the end. The recently revealed images show off the main characters the beautiful costumes and the stage design which are sure to have a Bridgertonian feel.
Austens last novel Persuasion was published in 1818 and was well received at the time although its popularity increased later in the century and continued into the next century. The upcoming Netflix film is not the first screen adaptation of the novel as it has been preceded by four others.

The film was produced by Andrew Lazar Crazy Chance and Christina WeissLowry Twentyfourth Eight Films along with MRC Film.
