Daniel Radcliffe Wins Best Villain for The Lost City at MTV Movie & TV Awards

Daniel Radcliffe has picked up an award win for his villainous performance in the adventure movie The Lost City.

The MTV Movie & TV Awards ceremony is underway and the Best Villain honor goes to Daniel Radcliffe for his role in The Lost City. Debuting at the South by Southwest Film Festival in March shortly before its wide release the film stars Sandra Bullock and Channing Tatum as the heroes. Radcliffe also stars as Abigail Fairfax an eccentric billionaire who resorts to kidnapping in his quest to find a mythical city described in his favorite authors book.

This would have been an award that was difficult to predict before the winner was announced. The list includes some amazing villains as the other nominees were Colin Farrell for The Batman James Jude Courtney for Halloween Kills Victoria Pedretti for You and Willem Dafoe for SpiderMan No Way Home. All great villains but its Radcliffe who comes out on top with the MTV crowd.

The Lost City was directed by Adam Nee and Aaron Nee and written by the Nees Oren Uziel and Dana Fox. It tells the story of a romance novelist and the cover model of one of her books who must escape a sinister billionaire on a quest for the lost ancient city from her novel series. The movie was a hit at the box office and did mostly well with critics. Viewers found the film to be an enjoyable adventure movie that benefitted greatly from its starring cast.

What attracted Daniel Radcliffe to The Lost City was the chance to star in an adventure movie. When the opportunity came along Radcliffe had recently viewed the Brendan Fraser Rachel Weisz version of The Mummy and had a wonderful time watching it. He realized that there needed to be more movies like The Mummy and that made him ecstatic to join The Lost City.

I think thats a generally good blanket rule is making the films that you would wanna see Radcliffe told THR. I had recently watched The Mummy the Brendan Fraser Rachel Weisz movie and had a kind of like Aah! There are no movies like this moment. And then Id read The Lost Citys script and I was like Aah! Thats that same sort of you know just that totally fun adventure thing. When its done well it is so much fun. And I think this is a really good example of them.

Radcliffe can next be seen in perhaps the weirdest role of his career. He will play famous song parodist Weird Al Yankovic in a Roku Channel biopic called Weird The Al Yankovic Story. Radcliffe has been made up to look as how Yankovic did in the 1980s complete with the eyeglasses curly hair and mustache.

But whats different about the biopic is that it imagines Weird Al living a more typical hard rockers partying lifestyle though thats not quite accurate to Yankovics real life. It will certainly be an odd film but thats the point and its expected to hit The Roku Channel later this year.
